Dr. Zeynep Gokcan Cakir, head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Ataturk University, who defeated the new type of coronavirus that she was caught with her husband, who was also a doctor in Erzurum, told her experiences during the period of illness and pandemic.
Çakır, who is the Vice President of the Emergency Medicine Specialists Association and the emergency service officer at the university hospital, told AA correspondent that they started to fight the pandemic with the first Covid-19 case in Erzurum.
Çakır stated that with the spread of Covid-19 in the country, the hospital was transformed into a pandemic hospital for a while.
Stating that they saw Covid-19 as a disease of another country when they first heard about it, Çakır said: " When Covid-19 arrived in Turkey, suddenly everyone's life changed drastically. Especially in the emergency department, we have had great difficulties as the front runners. It was not possible to know which patient was Covid-19 positive, we were obliged to protect those around us and the people we worked with. We came to work with this feeling and tried to heal the patients.".
