Ankara City Hospital Maternity Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Özlem Moraloğlu Tekin said that mothers-to-be who are vaccinated against Covid-19 are also protecting their babies with the antibodies they pass to their babies via breast milk.

"They can get vaccinated during the breast feeding period too."
Prof. Dr. Tekin stated "If the mothers aren't vaccinated, they can get vaccinated during the breast feeding period too. USA Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published reports regarding this. Mothers-to-be can get vaccinated at any time of their pregnancy or during the breast feeding period. It has been proved to pose no risks and have no side effects to the baby with a lot of data."

Mentioning that spaces appropriate for mothers with Covid-19 who gave birth, also trainings on how to breastfeed the baby with consideration to mask, distance and hygiene rules are provided in Ankara City Hospital, Tekin stated that in addition to vaccination, this information will also be included in the update to be done to the Ministry of Health's pregnancy follow-up guide regarding the Covid-19 period.
